Just so you wouldn't think I was kidding...

These are some of the ones that did not make the cut... We still however stand by the fact that we have the cutest baby in the world... but even extreme cuteness can have an off day. ;-)

Shazam!!! Jaina is 7 Months Old!!!

This is a timely post. :-) After 3 months plus of inactivity the initiative to post has struck again. Our little bundle of joy has blossomed from a teeny 2.71 kg to a whopping 6.75kg! Yes! The little one now officially weighs more than a bag of rice. Along with the fantastic growth is an amazing amount of facial expressions...

This was all the more apparent when we decided that the time had come for us to apply for a passport for our little tike. Thank the Lord for digital cameras... After countless failed mugshots we finally came to the one that you see. sigh... Our little girl...

Jaina's Maiden Swim

Wanted to bring Jaina to swim at my dad's condo after last Sunday Mass and we woke up to a beautiful morning...

Having said that, bringing a kid to Mass means that we have to wake up even earlier just to be ready and on time for the Lord. So that is to say we had no time to admire the beautiful morning God made for us...hee...

Thus, our weekly Sunday ritual begins with a mad dash to the loo before Jaina fuses. Followed by either a feeding or a bath time, depending on the time. If it's too early, can't bathe. “Later got wind,” says my grandma. Then another mad scramble to put ourselves in order so that we don't look like crap going to church when our precious one is so nicely put together by my grandma. Hee...

After church usually means lazing at home, more like hubby lazing and me packing my never-done-packing home. And then it rained!!!!!

Last Sunday was a little different as I wanted to bring Jaina swimming in her NEW bikini!! When I bought it, I chose this colour that really resembled one that I own. This way, we can be the matching-mother-and-daughter icon in the pool. Haha...

You see...my grand lofty idea was to go swimming earlier so as to catch some sun. But by the time we are done leaving the house, it was late afternoon. And by the time we reached my dad's place, changed to hit the waters, it was closer to evening. Thus, it was fair to say that the water was not warm. Still, with so much preparation into making this swimming event possible thus far, I was determined to make her touch the water!! Even if it was going to last one good minute!!

My darling little mermaid had this perpetual look of shock when I lowered her into the cold water as she had been so accustomed to bathing in nice warm water all this while. Her already big eyes grew even wider as I lowered her all the way till her chest. Hee... At least my brave little mermaid didn't cry her lungs out, so the 3 swimming coaches nearby did not cast looks of distain in my direction.

I must say our first maiden swim went pretty well!

We've got the Cutest Baby in the WORLD!!!!

Seriously lah. I can't keep it inside anymore. I was carrying her today and was trying to burp her when she just kinda looked up at me and I had to stop myself from squeezing the stuffing out of her... She's just SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!! I had to pass her to my mom to save her life.

To justify I've compared her to alot of babies I've seen in magazines and I think she beats them flat! :P I don't care....
我的法号是光头

Jaina had her head shaved after Labour Day!! Not that it was in conjunction with Labour Day or anything like that, it just so happened.

The decision was made by my mum-in-law one morning and the shaving was carried out soon after, during Jaina's nap. The finished product is kinda weird at first, not that Jaina had a whole mob of hair to start out with but with that little bit gone, it's a funny look.

And then, it hit me. My baby looked like a monk!! REALLY!! Please view Exhibit B.

But having said that, Jaina is the cutest monk around! Honestly, have you seen a cuter monk around? Hee...
When babies dream...

I read in a book somewhere that research has shown that babies are capable of dreaming from the time they are in your womb. So, it's no wonder that they can also be dreaming during their sleep when they are born.

Well, Jaina DEFINITELY dreams during her sleep. How I know? That's because sometimes, she'll smile suddenly in her sleep. And I know she can't be smiling at me as her eyes are closed the whole time. Her smiles will disappear as abruptly as they come though, so can't really capture a picture to show you want I mean. And of course, there're times when she'll suddenly cry in her sleep and then, just as without warning, return to la la land.

Which makes me think...what constitutes a good dream for a baby? I mean, think about it, we adults can say that we have had a wealth of experiences, so we have nice dreams...men have wet ones...but I digress. :P So, what on earth can make a baby smile? The only two reasons I can think of are these. One, Jaina is SWIMMING in a ocean of milk so she will never go hungry again (yay!). Two, Jaina is being faced with multiple nipples with much milk to go around!! Wait a minute, the second reason can also make some men smile in their sleep yah? Haha...from some alien movies I bet.

Thus, I figured with Jaina's VERY limited excess to world knowledge, I don't think her good and bad dreams extend very much beyond milk, milk and more milk. So, what do YOU think?

Today PJ and I head back to my mom's place after spending the weekend taking care of our little bundle ourselves. Well kinda.. PJ's Granny stayed over....BUT! We were back in our cosy little part of Redhill just us and the little princess.

We even managed a showing at church! During which our little one was communing with Jesus the entire time... :P Her eyes were closed in prayer speaking to our lord for almost 2 hours.... We've got a pious little smallie.

My Wife's Boobies be Nice... :P

You know being the husband of a breastfeeding mom has its perks. PJ and I managed to sneak off yesterday evening to watch 'Westside Story' with a couple of friends. It was not as gay as I expected....but anyways... after the musical, we went to Harry's for a quick drink and discuss the relative ungayness of the musical before heading back home. The couple photos followed. Looking at them in retrospect makes me realise that my wife's boobies have blossomed since she's started breastfeeding. :P I mean they were nice before but now they're well... extra nice... heh. Luv ya sweetie

Jaina's First!!

Our little princess just celebrated her full month with relatives on the 22 April Saturday and it makes me realised that all the celebration is so much more for the adults than for the kid herself. Jaina was awake all of half hour for her celebration and she slept through the rest of the night. Even the cake-cutting itself, she was sleeping like a log! Presenting Exhibit A.

So we cater food but my mum-in-law made curry from yogurt and that was yummy. She also made red bean soup that would make the folks of some South African tribe very very happy, for a very very long time. :P

Anyways...as I was saying, the design on the cake was drawn by my very artistic uncle and put together by my equally artistic hubby. As both sets of grandparents gather for the cake-cutting, it brought back memories of my 21st birthday when both sets of grandparents met for the very first time. That seemed so long ago...and fast forward 9 years later, they take photo together again but with a new identity...grandparents.

Being Sick Sucks

I hate being sick...Sniffling sucks. Sore throats suck. Phlegm sucks! Can's go too near the baby either. This bites...

Anyways, finally uploaded Jaina's photos onto Flickr. Please view here.

Jaina's Smarter Now

For the first 2 weeks of her life, Jaina had been real easy to care for. So long as she's had her fill, she'd drop right to sleep. But this week has been quite a challenge, she'll wake for her feed and then after her fill, she'd still be wide-eyed and want to stay awake somemore to play. However, her idea of "play" is really staying awake and practise holding her head up by herself...which I must add that she is doing very well for a month-old baby!

Apparently, (according to my grandma) babies are supposed to be only TRYING to hold their heads up from 2 months onwards! And my darling started at one month!! How's that for being a genius? I'm sure that's from my side of good genes... :P

So my baby has smiled her first smile, laughed her first laugh, sneezed her first sneeze, held her head up for a full 10 secs and ALMOST turned over all by herself!! Not too bad for a month-old kid huh?

That's MY smart kid by the way...hee...

Take Off Your Top

Since my speedy delivery to my little-r princess Jaina, I have heard the instruction "Take off your top" so often that I no longer ponder who the person asking is, where I am, why am I taking off my clothes for strangers. I just do it. Really! After you give birth, your need to protect your boobs, for fear that other strange people see and then take photos and then circular all over the internet, just goes out off the window.

In fact, today I went to see my boobs-doctor and she just told me to lose the top and I did just that at the drop of the hat. And the fact that she had this other patient (female too lah) did not make me think twice. So there we were, two perfect strangers, topless - with boobs hanging out there and chatted like old friends about our babies... Incredulous!! I think that happened because both of us were topless, it's liberating like that. Somehow, losing our tops is liken to losing our inhibitions. Interesting how God made women this way.

I wonder if men feel the same way in the same room in a sperm bank...
Babies Cost More Than Drugs

Today PJ had to go down to the hospital to meet a lactation specialist. Aheh...heh... Anyway she went down because our little milk piranha is up to 160 ml per feeding. Thats roughly the equivalent of a 3 month old baby (Either that or the people at Similac are a buncha lying b@$t@rds and she's falling behind on supply.

For those guys looking at a career in lactation therapy, lemme tell you what the job entails. Lots and lots of massaging women's boobies. Seems like a sweet deal init? Well after you've seen some of the pictures they have to show you of women with engorged breasts you might change your mind abit. Since we don't want to get banned we won't be showing any of those here (but I'm sure if you're curious enough you'll find pictures. :P)

But lets get back to what my post is supposed to be about. We were recommended to buy the Avent ISIS IQ Duo to solve our milk. Now there are breast pumps and there are BREAST PUMPS...This particular one is like the Ferrari of breast pumps. I mean dang man! It made the one PJ was using previously look like a kids toy. First of all it comes in its own carrying case, plus its double sided for twin breast pumping action and pump speed is controllable. Impressive....Most impressive (plus the pictures provided in the brochure of blissful looking women with 2 suction cups attached to their boobs was quite compelling). But the price. OMG. What to do, we have to feed our offspring.... The blady bugger who came up with the rubbish that breastfeeding was free should be shot. Not in this day and age brudder.....

Yes! My Baby Looks like ME!!!!
Finally somebody says my baby looks like me and not like my brother.... I mean honestly! It was getting kinda creepy. Relatives would be like "Aiyo so cute! Eh looks like Leon ah!" I mean what am I chopped liver?! The mother can say that this child sprang forth from my loins but HEY! I helped!

Now I have photographic proof! Bwahaha... And I have my mom's maid to thank. THANK YOU ANI! Now if only she'd left it at "Looks just like Shawn" and didn't add "Face round round like that" I would be a happy man... But I'll take what I can get.... See photo....

They like us.... They Really Like Us....
We feel much loved. Thanks to everybody who came to visit yesterday. :P As you will read I'm still getting used to this blogging thing. Just 1 day after proclaiming that I will blog every day, I lapse... bleagh....Wassap man! Jialat lah... Anyhoo, today as we enjoy the last few hours of our long weekend (No... Thats not true...Thats impossible...Nooo....) it is important for us to ponder about the total demons that our children might end up becoming....
PrincessJ and I went to church today and of course as in all public places you get to see kids doing the things that kids do. I remember when the 2 of us would look at other peoples' children misbehaving and then comment that our kids will never be like that because we'd kung fu their asses or we'd tie them up in the boot or whateva lah. Now I actually have to do that.... I hope Jaina doesn't warrant a feature in super nanny. I mean saying you'll hantam them and then looking into their tearfilled eyes as you brandish the cane is another. Das it lah. I'm going to be one of those cannot make it parents.... CANNOT! Jaina sweetie... Daddy's sorry.... Twack!

Episode 5: The Kagak Monster Strikes Back
Friends... Our daughter has redefined poo....
For the benefit of everybody I will provide background info. According to the wikipedia:
Meconium (sometimes erroneously spelled merconium) is the first stool of an infant, composed of materials ingested during the time the infant spends in the uterus: intestinal epithelial cells, lanugo, mucus, amniotic fluid, bile, and water. Meconium is sterile, unlike later feces, and has no odor.

Pictures don't do it justice. You have to see it... O M G!!! Such a tiny little body.... So much poo... On our little darling's 2nd night at home, after removing her diaper filled to the max with the above substance, we were rummaging for the 2nd diaper when all of a sudden.....the floodgates opened again. Quickthinking PrincessJ then did something that only a mother could. Cupping her hands under KGM's bum, she saved us all....

Since then, our cute little KGM has managed to poo over her grandma on not one, not two, but on three separate occasions. Ahhh. the joys of parenthood. :P

Aiyah what to do. She's just sooooooo cute.....

Procrastination

That's my middle name. But for the sake of our new addition I am determined!!!! My words will flow! I WILL BLOG EVERY DAY!!!!!

Episode 4: Our New Hope

It is the morning of March 25 2005. Daddy Chak's "spaceships", having struck from a hidden base, won their first victory against the laws of probability 39 weeks previous.

Thats as far as I'll go before I totally butcher ANH's opening crawl.... Somehow trying to replace the following text:

"During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy…."

started out being cute. After goofing around with the words it began getting moderately awkward until finally it was like reading the introduction to a Hong Kong Category III movie.

So....

Our little bundle of joy, Chak Yeng Kay, Jaina Lucretia, was born kicking and screaming on the morning of Saturday, 25 March at 1051 am. According to my mum, the timing was particularly auspiscious as reversed, its my wife's birthday. Go figure...
